I am a Conference Interpreter - 12 years with the European Union and 10 years in Rome with the United Nations FAO. I speak fluently Portuguese, Spanish, French and English. I am currently stationed in Maryland and would like to start an AAL branch here if there isn't one already. A question- your linkages to AfroBrazil???

I am a Spanish Educator and have been teaching high school, middle school, and elementary school Spanish for 8 years. I am also in the final stages of completing my Master's in Linguistics. I currently am a member of the Chicago Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. I have been looking for a network similar, but geared more towards the African-American community. I am glad that I found you all!!!

Hello Professors', am beginning a journey to learning Spanish. Will be looking to start online but will be active in promoting speaking in the home and with friends. Thanks for providing this program. See you soon...

I am a tenured Associate Professor at Troy University, Montgomery Campus, home of the Rosa Parks Museum and Library. Montgomery itself has a paradoxical history as both Cradle of the Confederacy and Home of the Civil Rights Movement. I have been an educator for almost 30 years and served as sociolinguistic consultant for state and local government for over 17. Whenever possible, though, I return to my roots as a musician (I received an undergraduate degree in music from the University of Alabama, where I was in the choir and marching and concert bands.) I also have a B. A. in English from that same institution. My master's (M.A. Edu) is in Secondary education--with a concentration in reading and English, and my doctorate (Ph.D) is in linguistics (The University of Florida). While I have not had the opportunity to immerse myself in linguistics--as I would like to do--I feel that, with the support and encouragement of a group such as this one, I can attain my goals. Even more importantly, I can serve as a mentor to other aspiring linguists trying to find their way. I am overjoyed to know that an organization such as this one exists. Whatever I can do to support it, please let me know.
