I am a tenured Associate Professor at Troy University, Montgomery Campus, home of the Rosa Parks Museum and Library. Montgomery itself has a paradoxical history as both Cradle of the Confederacy and Home of the Civil Rights Movement. I have been an educator for almost 30 years and served as sociolinguistic consultant for state and local government for over 17. Whenever possible, though, I return to my roots as a musician (I received an undergraduate degree in music from the University of Alabama, where I was in the choir and marching and concert bands.) I also have a B. A. in English from that same institution. My master's (M.A. Edu) is in Secondary education--with a concentration in reading and English, and my doctorate (Ph.D) is in linguistics (The University of Florida). While I have not had the opportunity to immerse myself in linguistics--as I would like to do--I feel that, with the support and encouragement of a group such as this one, I can attain my goals. Even more importantly, I can serve as a mentor to other aspiring linguists trying to find their way. I am overjoyed to know that an organization such as this one exists. Whatever I can do to support it, please let me know.

What a cool wensite. I found it by searching African American Diaspora. As a member of Wycliffe Bible Translators, a linguisitc organization (some may know us as SIL), I find your site very exciting.

I am currently doing my masters in MA-TESL at Andrews University, but I am looking to pursue a PhD in Linguistics. I earned my bachelors in French studies. I am very impressed with your organization and would love to get more involved. I really admire what AAL stands for and I will continue to pray for many blessings to rain down on this organization.

Beijing Normal University is the "Harvard" of Teaching Education in China. I've wanted to attend their Teacher Education program for years.

Will you make this dream come true? Please send an application.
